Blind Field Shuttle
Sunday, October 15, 2017
11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Artist-in-residence Carmen Papalia explores accessibility as it relates to his experience as a nonvisual learner, a term that Papalia has chosen in place of negative descriptions such as “blind” or “visually impaired.”
Join Papalia for an hour-long walk through Uptown Charlotte and explore the possibilities for learning and knowing the built environment through the nonvisual senses. Participants will line up behind the artist, link arms, and close their eyes for the entire walk. The tour will culminate at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art with a group discussion about universal accessibility.
$15 McColl Center Members, $20 Non-members
Participants should wear comfortable, closed-toe footwear that is suitable for walking or hiking.
