New Frequencies at McColl Center / Music: Lonnie Holley
This event is no longer on sale.
Lonnie Holley is a visual artist and musician based in Atlanta. His art and music, born out of struggle, hardship, but perhaps more importantly, out of furious curiosity and biological necessity, has manifested itself in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and sound. His music and lyrics are improvised on the spot, and morph and evolve with every performance. The layers of sound in Holley’s music, likewise, are the result of decades of evolving experimentation.
Holley performs regularly across Europe and the United States, was part of the Blues for Smoke exhibition in 2013 at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and has been the subject of major retrospectives at Birmingham Museum of Art and Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art.
