Saturday July 14

12:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

You are invited to explore our vibrant contemporary art space at Open Studio Saturday! Bring your family and friends to meet our artists-in-residence, participate in fun hands-on activities, and create a work of art of your very own. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Start With A Pop

The fun begins on our front lawn where you can grab a refreshing ice pop from King of Pops. The first hundred people to come through get their first popsicle on us.

DIG INTO HANDS-ON ART MAKING

Watercolor Botanical Paintings

Enter our industrial sculpture studio where you’ll create watercolor paintings from current artist-in-residence Sam Van Aken’s botanical prints. You will also learn about the history and characteristics of stone fruit—including the Peento, Peach Apricot, and Common Damson—and the ways that Van Aken is working to preserve these rare varieties.

Tech + Art

Explore robotics and 3D printing in our first-floor studio with alumnus artist Oliver Lewis, who will use a 3D printer to help visitors create art pieces related to Sam Van Aken’s The Open Orchard project.

Become an Icon

Alumnus artist Marcus Kiser will make you the artist during his iconography workshop. You’ll create an icon or symbol that represents a positive interpretation of who you are and what you aspire to be.
